A few things about…
Graduate Intern Services
As a Registered Clinical Supervisor, I am in the unique position of being able to support developing Graduate Intern Therapists as they complete their degree and professional requirements within the Arbutus Counselling practice. In doing this, I will be working with emerging professionals who are utilizing their life experiences, educational background and developing skills with youth, adults and in relationship based work.
All Graduate Intern Therapists that work at Arbutus Counselling will practice with client wellbeing as centre to their practice and will receive ongoing supervision and support from me in their work.
AFFORDABLE, PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING SERVICES
These services are highly strategic as Graduate Intern Therapists will practice at Arbutus Counselling for approximately one year in duration. I am excited to offer this service here in our community and would be happy to respond to any questions about it that you may have.

FAQ
What does ‘receiving ongoing supervision’ mean for a Graduate Intern Therapist?
As Graduate Intern Therapists offer counselling services to clients during their process of learning and training, they are required to meet with their Clinical Supervisor regularly in order to make sure they are receiving the necessary support to provide the best services to the clients. The Graduate Intern Therapist may share some information from a session to their clinical supervisor to discuss it, but any client identifying information is kept confidential unless necessary, and the supervisor is bound to the same confidentiality agreement as well. Clinical supervision is an integral part of a therapist’s profession, and in fact all registered therapists have one too!
Can my extended benefits cover sessions with a Graduate Intern Therapist?
As any other service, it would be best to contact your provider directly as they are the ones who decide what is covered by your plan or not. Our current rates for working with a Graduate Intern Therapist are $80 for individual sessions and $90 for relationship or family sessions, making this a significantly more accessible and affordable option.

GRADUATE INTERN THERAPIST
Tamara Meinzer
I come to the field of counselling with over a decade of experience as a dental hygienist and a wealth of life experience. Prior to that I completed a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and in January 2020 I commenced a Master of Counselling degree.
I am joining Arbutus Counselling as a Graduate Intern Therapist where I will continue to develop and expand my knowledge and skills to better serve the needs of counselling clients prior to registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in late 2022.
We have all had to endure struggles at some point – it’s the cost of admission to this thing called life.
At the same time, I believe that we have innate resilience and strength to draw upon and a capacity to change and grow. In working collaboratively with you, my intention is to facilitate a safe place for you to explore and develop insight and awareness, develop new skills, all while helping you set and reach your goals.
My approach is integrative and rooted in non-judgment, empathy, and compassion. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, or major life transitions, I look forward to supporting you. I know it takes courage to seek support and I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.
