REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR

Johanna wickie

My motto is to “keep it real…”

Starting counselling can be both daunting and uncomfortable, and I find it important to make this process as transparent, accessible, and insightful as possible. While holding a compassionate and safe space I am not afraid to sit in this discomfort with you and to work collaboratively to find answers that are specific to you.

I commit to bringing my authentic “Johanna” self to each session in the hope to build an equal and trustworthy relationship for us to face your life challenges together. I find humour and honesty to be integral to this process, and welcome laughter in sessions. My approach to counselling is focussed on empowerment and authenticity. The aim is to find your own unique definition of success. The aim is never to work harder, but to live and work more effectively, reclaiming time and energy for yourself.

I work with individuals dealing with challenges such as:

  • Anxiety

  • depression

  • grief & loss

  • self-esteem issues

  • addictions

  • significant life changes & events

  • RELATIONSHIP BASED COUNSELLING

I have extensive experience working with youth, couples, and families, including blended families and couples going through separation and divorce. I also work with individuals seeking career-related support.

A few things about Johanna…

Prior to my counselling career, I had a diverse professional background with almost two decades of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, a decade in the business sector, and a Master of Business Administration. My shift into counselling was centred in my desire to have a more immediate and positive impact with people. I witness positive change processes in clients each and every day and recognize the good fortune I have in doing the work that I love.

I am a committed, open and encouraging person who will work alongside you, step by step, supporting your progress as you move towards your preferred future. I commit to authenticity, humour, compassion and accountability. If you ask me a question, I will answer it. If you need to change directions, we will do so. My goal is to provide an understandable framework for the counselling process with you firmly providing the direction you wish to seek.
